2010 ITT-OTT Conference

Children's Program

For children between 3 and 15 years old, we offer childcare and educational programming during our morning sessions.  Éva Simon a certified teacher will be overseeing the interesting, playful, Hungarian and community themed instruction for two or three separate groups. The level of instruction will be made appropriate to age and skill levels.  Our invited lecturers and some talented MBK members will also be participating in the children’s programming.  We ask for a modest contribution to cover the costs of expenses: One child $50, two $75.

While the adults are listening to the morning lectures, the children and youth will be tended with lively instruction. During the course of the week they will be able to learn many poems, songs and stories and participate in folk children’s games. There will also be arts and crafts to strengthen their creativity and familiarize them with materials from nature.

Even though the children may present their handiwork, or newly learned poems and songs in front of the conference, the children’s program offered is not results oriented.  What we aim to do is enrich our first, second and third generation children with Hungarian language and experience.  Through this they will come to appreciate that belonging to multiple cultures is an asset that will help them grow into more fully rounded adults and citizens of a world where everyone can find “home.”

“We are put on this earth, so that can be at ‘home.’” – Tamási
